When I woke up, we put on our daily motivational content and listened to Jim Rohn. I always like Jim's messages and, of course his accent that I still don't know where it's from but, it's adorable so to say lol. I was preoccupied with getting this blog set up before off to the park when I heard him say "Only those who knock deserve to find the door." He also repeatedly said "we don't get in life what we need but what we deserve. "
I thought hmm... that's very true, what we put out we will get back. Rohn kept talking about finding opportunities. I know for some people, its hard to knock on doors of opportunity when we have anxiety, social anxiety for the matter, fear of failure, etc. We need to put an end to these attributes that have so much control over us, or else we will never get anywhere! Its the hard truth folks, but putting yourself out there whether it's scary or not, will only give you confidence, but you can finally stand up to your fears and knock on your dream door and, I'm sure its been waiting for you for a while.
I suffered from anxiety pretty much since 13. Social anxiety ruined me when I was older because I always thought people were looking at me and talking behind my back. All my life I had been social, active in sports, different clubs at school but when I gained a lot of weight due to my thyroid problem, I wanted to disappear so no one would look at me. I was so consumed for at least two years, I felt swallowed and hopeless. Once I got my groove back and you can thank the gym for that, it allowed me to be more confident and put myself out there.
Now my definition of putting yourself out there is when you try new things! When you try new food, hobby, sport whatever it is, you're opening yourself to tremendous doors of opportunity! You may not see it like that but it's true! How many times have you finally had the courage to go to a job fair, maybe ask out someone you liked, and turns out you succeeded or got whatever it is you wanted?! Or I know everyone can relate to when you overthink something you need to do, you're scared of the outcome, and then once you go and do it, you find out, there was nothing to worry about in the first place! Opportunities opened up tremendously for me when I decided to face my fears and just do it!
For some people, they have never been afraid to go after what they wanted and that's awesome, cooties to you! But for some it might not be that easy. Whenever my overthinking starts to nag at me before I decide to do something, I think about, what if I don't do this? What will be the outcome? Will I have missed my chance? I know making a move might be super bold for some of you, but when you think about not going for it, it will eat you up, and possibly you might regret not taking the action later.
I knew a woman who had a full-ride scholarship to one of the best Universities and due to her lack of fear, and conditioning of negativity as a child, she decided to not pursue it. Now, what might you think would have happened if she had just said, "you know what this is scary but let me give it a go? "I know the last time we spoke about it, she now regrets it and basically has settled herself into a job that pays half the salary she would have made if attending that prestigious school.
I know making choices in your life is hard and especially if that fear of failure is knawing at you, you want to not think about it, but face it, would you rather take the chance by putting yourself out there or regret that decision in 20 years?
When we put ourselves out there into the world, I tell you the universe rewards you! Whether you believe me or not, I've seen it for my own eyes. I have finally faced my anxiety and made some bold moves this year and, now I'm in a beautiful apartment with the love of my life, going to have a baby at the end of this year, and continuing to work on myself, spiritually, financially, mentally and emotionally.
I never saw myself in this predicament ever! But with the need for change, confidence and most importantly believing in myself, I opened myself up to so many blessings just by taking that leap of faith and trusting in myself and the universe.
I tell you, it's not easy but it can be done. Remember what Jim Rohn said, "Only those who knock deserve to find the door." When you finally decide to put yourself out there and make the right changes that will benefit you, I promise opportunity will be knocking on your door!
