On The Road To Motherhood

I can't believe how many people took the time out and read my post about our pregnancy news! Thank you all who have read it. I know it was short, that day I was overwhelmed with emotion so I was pretty distracted when it came to writing but I appreciate all the views! Crazy what a time to be pregnant! Almost coming out of quarantine, the protests that are being held, I mean its a strange time!! I almost didn't share with the world, because I felt that everyone is going through their own thing and to bring in my news would be somewhat inappropriate, but I wanted to share excitement and positivity. That's what I am all about!

My boyfriend and I were discussing how important it is to raise our child with awareness. We need to educate our child about world matters, not to discuss the negativity aspect of world issues, but so that they are aware and ready for such topics.  I want to educate my child on how important it is to be themselves, and not to look at anyone because of the color of their skin but to look deep within, and see the goodness in all.

I left my last post with the quote of "children don't hear us, they imitate us." That's one of the key aspects in terms of parenthood. We can talk all we want to our children, maybe tone it down so that they understand when they are at the appropriate age but to lead with action, showing them, exposing them, that's how they learn!

When I say exposing, I don't mean take your child to dangerous places and show them the dark side of the world, but it all comes down to being their leader. I emphasized in my last posts, we need to be the examples and I can't stress it enough.

I'm not technically a parent just yet, but I have years of wisdom, education, and the morals that I stand by due to my parents being great figures in my life and teaching me how to be great and to lead with love. When I found out back in April, I knew I had to make the switch then. I had to grow up, even more, I had to educate myself on pregnancy, motherhood.

My partner Pablo will tell you, I stayed up hours reading because I want to be as ready and educated as I can be before my little angel comes into this world. There's no book or guide on parenting, we can take from how our childhood was whether it was a positive or negative experience and, make it the best for our children.  I am so excited and most importantly ready for my journey to begin!
