Finding Tranquility In Tough Times
As I look outside, I see the rain coming down as hard as it can, the sound of thunder. Oh, how rain just soothes my soul! As a child, I hated the sound of thunder and lightning, I thought it was scary as much as every other child. My mom made into a game and, we would count the seconds from the time the roaring thunder stopped, and when the lightning would strike back up. I loved watching The Sound Of Music as well.
Every time there would be a storm, the children frightened, would find themselves in Maria's room, the nanny and she would sing songs to cheer up the children. Now as I came to appreciate the tranquility of the rain, especially when its a thunderstorm, I think about the fond memories of my mother and the movie.
Ask yourself what gives you peace? Is it the sound of waves crashing on the beach, or the loud roar of thunder, or birds singing? Anything that soothes your nerves and allows you to relax and reflect on great times, I suggest you do more of. Especially with hard times like these, the outbreak of Coronavirus, the horrific news of police not serving and protecting citizens, it's easy to get wrapped up in the negativity and anxiety that comes with it.
I mean how many of you have done nothing but talk about these topics, maybe debate with people about it, and argue over political views and whos, right? Its time to stop and slow down. When we wrap ourselves in these anxiety-ridden topics, that never really have a good outcome, it can be so easy to control you and allow you to be bitter and, or negative.
I'm not saying stick your head in the clouds and, act oblivious to what's going around us, but remember to always tranquil yourself after these sensitive topics. I've been quiet when discussing such topics, not because I am not educated nor don't want to discuss such matters, but I am sensitive to energy and, I see how one can become so enraged and allow these powerful emotions to take over. I don't follow the news and I've been trying to stay off social media for my own inner peace.
Of course, what's happening in today's world is just awful, and I hope all the families of the victims that fell prey into the hands of these disgusting cops get the justice they need and most importantly, deserve but, we still need to find our zen especially in tough times.
In writing this today, I just want to remind everyone to stop and slow down, and to find their safe space, zen, tranquil spot, whatever you call it, and stay there for a moment. Acknowledge any emotions that are coming up and let them go. Think back to fond memories, and allow those to fill your head with glee. I suggest you do this every day, regardless of tough times or not, finding tranquility will bring about more fulfillment into your life. Now its time to figure out your zen!
"Tranquility is a choice. So is anxiety. The entire world around us may be in turmoil. But if we want to be peaceful within, WE CAN!"
